All staff are given an enhanced DBS Police Check which is undertaken by the management team to ensure the safety and well being of all children in the nursery. All staff start on a three month probationary contract to ensure their suitability to the nursery. We do not choose new staff lightly. We ensure that we check their references, backgrounds, qualifications and health history.

We are glad that the staff bring their different skills, experience and backgrounds to the nursery, and we have many staff that are parents themselves and understand the joys and frustrations that come with parenthood. We feel very lucky to have a good staff team, most of whom are qualified or undergoing training whilst with us.

We realise that staff retention can be an important issue to prospective parents; therefore we try very hard to retain all of our staff by offering a programme of continuous training to update and extend their qualifications, and help them to reach their personal goals.

We strongly believe that alert, fun and content carers benefit your children and insist that staff have their one hour lunch break away from the children in the staff room which has a separate entrance/exit allowing them to have a complete break, and come back refreshed and re-energised; we have several ladies who come in and help us look after the children at lunchtime. They are also police checked, and have the same background checks as any other staff members.

Keith and Lesley – Directors

Lesley Baker and her daughter, Holly started the Nursery in 2006. Lesley had worked with Children for several years and had just completed her History degree. They decided to open a Nursery and their vision was a family owned one in a setting that mirrored a family home. Lesley has now retired, but still enjoys spending time at the Nursery whilst Holly has taken over the leadership. The Nursery continues to remain family owned.

Holly – Director

Holly has been working in childcare since 1998. She has worked in various types of areas within childcare from social services, Montessori and Nurseries. Holly qualified with a NNEB and trained at The Norland College of Nursery Nursing gaining a Diploma in Childcare and Education. Holly is committed to providing a childcare setting that is safe, healthy, fun and helps children learn through play. Holly is also a proud mum of three boys.

Ben Portrait

Ben – Chef

Ben is Lesley and Keith’s son and Hollys brother. Alongside being our Chef both of his children have attended the Nursery. He prides himself on preparing healthy, appealing meals that provides children with a varied diet to help them thrive. Wherever possible, Ben uses organic meat and produce. Ben is passionate about using seasonal fruits and vegetables and has become very experienced in hiding vegetables into his fabulous meals. Photos of Bens food can be found on our facebook page. Ben is very proud of the Nurseries 5* rating.

Gill Portrait

Gill – Administrator

Gill works as our office administrator. She has been with our team since 2016. Gill is  AAT qualified in accounting and book keeping. Gill deals with invoices and funding. Any financial queries, please ask to speak to her.

Nida Portrait

Nida – Manager

Nida is our Nursery Manager. Nida holds a level 5 in Early Years Education. She is passionate about child-initiated play and feels strongly about giving children a choice. Nida has been a member of our team since 2013, where she joined as an apprentice and we have proudly watched her flourish whilst continuing  to qualify and develop in her career reaching the highest Management position. Nida leads her staff team well and prioritises their needs recognising that when your staff team is feeling appreciated and given training opportunities and most importantly a voice they are happier in their role which shows in our strong record of staff retention.

Chloe – Deputy Manager

Chloe is a Deputy Manager of the Nursery and is also the leader of the Jungle Room (1-2 year olds). Chloe has a caring nature and is aware of each individual child’s needs. She keeps a watchful eye and will step in whenever and where needed, leading each child to feel valued, safe and happy. Chloe also has a good relationship with her staff which ensures a happy working environment and the smooth running of the room. Chloe has been a member of our team since 2016 when she joined as a Nursery Assistant and we have enjoyed watching her career develop and grow through the years through our on site training scheme.

Phoebe – Deputy Manager

Phoebe is a Deputy Manager of the Nursery. Phoebe joined our team in 2015 as a Nursery assistant, it has been a pleasure watching Phoebe grow in her goals through training, experience and taking on stronger roles throughout her time with us. Phoebe is the Balloon Room leader (2-3 year olds). Phoebe has high expectations for each child in her care and puts a strong focus on ensuring that all the children in her care reach their fullest potential. Phoebe recognises that each child is unique and has different needs and enjoys planning the classroom activities to reflect these differences whilst enriching their learning experience.
